A practical guide

Your first comparison.

Start with one question and the details that help answer it.

Capture and organise

  1. Open a normal webpage. Click ClipCompare in the browser toolbar and choose “Capture a snippet”. Drag around the visible area you need; Escape cancels.
  2. The saved snippet appears in ClipCompare. Open your comparisons and create or select a comparison. Place the snippet under an option and a criterion.
  3. Give options useful names and use the same criteria for each. Add notes to explain currency, billing periods, fees and promotional limits. Values are not extracted or normalised automatically.
  4. Add or replace snippets as you check more sources. A capture records what was visible at that moment; revisit the source to confirm current terms.

You can also add a PNG, JPEG or WebP screenshot (up to 12 MB), or paste an image into the comparison.

Protect private details before sharing

Crop to the useful area and use opaque redaction to cover sensitive details. Review every page in Preview & export, including continuations. Export PNG or PDF, or copy the image. Public exports flatten the redactions into the image.

Sharing source addresses is optional. Enable it only when appropriate; query strings and fragments are removed, but the remaining address can still identify a page. Check notes, captions and visible content as well.

A backup is different from an export. Editable backups can contain original images and reversible masks. Do not send them as a redacted deliverable.

Build a matching series in Creator Studio

Open Studio from your comparison. Choose a template, fonts, colours and layout. Save a reusable template or apply the design to selected comparisons; their evidence and notes stay with them. Select export sizes, prepare the batch and review the pages before downloading the ZIP. It contains flattened PNGs and PDFs for the selected comparisons and sizes.

Studio tools are free to try. There is no checkout or paid activation in this release.

Questions and recovery

Capture is unavailable. What can I do?

Browser-internal pages and some protected pages do not allow capture. Open a normal webpage. If capture does not start, close the popup and try again, or add a screenshot manually.

Does it capture the whole page?

No. Capture saves the selected area of the visible page when you act. Scroll to the relevant part and capture it separately.

Where are my comparisons?

They live in this browser and profile. Check that you opened the same profile. The web workspace and extension have separate libraries; transfer comparisons through a private editable backup and import. If local storage was removed and no backup exists, there is no cloud recovery.

How do I move to another computer?

Export a private editable backup, transfer it securely and import it on the other computer. Do not share it as a public deliverable: it can retain original images.

Copy or export did not finish.

Download a PNG if your browser blocks clipboard access. For a large series, try fewer comparisons or export sizes at once. Prepare the export again and review each page before saving.

Which interface languages are available?

English, Spanish, German, Japanese, French, Portuguese, Russian and Italian. Choose your language in the app.

Can I turn usage analytics off?

Yes. Open Privacy in the extension and change the usage analytics setting. Turning it off clears unsent events but does not retract events already delivered. This information website has no analytics scripts.

Does ClipCompare choose the best option?

No. It organises your snippets and notes. Checking terms, making them comparable and deciding remain your responsibility.
